This is the part that got me.
Two nanometers.
I have watched process nodes shrink for years, but seeing 2 nm attached to an actual Mac mini feels different. The same tiny footprint now carries a process generation that Apple says packs more transistor density into a smaller die.
“2 nm” is the semiconductor process generation name, not a literal measurement of every transistor feature. The important part is the density, efficiency, and compute that this generation makes possible.

Apple announced the new Mac mini with M6 and M5 Pro, saying the M6 model delivers up to 4× faster AI performance, up to 2× faster graphics and storage, and up to 40% faster CPU performance in its comparisons. The M6 model starts at $899 in the U.S.; pre-orders opened August 25, with availability beginning September 22.

It is not just the chip.
The new Mac mini adds Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and 2.5Gb Ethernet as standard, with 10Gb Ethernet configurable. M6 models use three Thunderbolt 4 ports; M5 Pro models step up to Thunderbolt 5.

Why make a token out of this?
Because the hardware news genuinely got under my skin.
I am not an Apple representative. I do not work for Apple, Marques Brownlee, or any company mentioned on this page. I am just somebody who loves hardware launches and got irrationally excited that Apple crossed into its 2 nm generation with M6 — and put it inside the Mac mini.
The ticker is $M6 because the chip is the entire reason this exists. The machine is tiny, the process node is a milestone, and the story is easy to understand without inventing a fake roadmap or pretending the token has utility it does not have.
